Apprenticeship & Traineeships

What is an Apprenticeship or Traineeship?

An apprenticeship is a trade-based qualification that usually takes three to four years to complete full time, a traineeship is typically a non-trade qualification that takes between one to two years to complete, full time. Both are nationally recognised employment-based qualifications that may be undertaken either full-time, part-time or as a school-based option.

There are hundreds of qualifications available, ranging from Certificate 2 courses up to Diplomas. Despite being enrolled in a course that encompasses high-quality training, individuals completing an apprenticeship or traineeships are also employees and must be paid under a relevant industry award rate or via another industrial instrument.
