GTO Registration in QLD & NT

Becoming a Group Training Organisation

Would your organisation like to be recognised as a GTO in Queensland? You can begin your journey towards joining one of the state’s forefront training networks here. To start, you’ll need to submit an Application for recognition as a group training organisation in Queensland form for evaluation by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.

To assist you on your application journey, there are a plethora of tips, tools and advice available to help your organisation tick all the boxes - with every document required easily downloaded below.

When it comes to applying for GTO recognition, applicants must address the following:

  1. All Queensland government requirements as outlined in the 'Application for recognition as a group training organisation' form

  2. The National Standards for Group Training Organisations (PDF, 64KB), in accordance with Queensland audit arrangements for GTOs.

To successfully demonstrate that all national standards have been met, applicants must engage an external auditor, at their own expense, to conduct a compliance audit. (Note: The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) will consider, on application, interstate compliance audits). For more information, visit the Group training organisation audits section on the DESBT website.

During your application, it’s also important to familiarise yourself with the operating requirements for GTOs in Queensland, and understand how GTOs are monitored and evaluated in this state.
